Nemo’s path is strictly linked to the history of the Italian Design of the last twenty years. Nemo was founded in 1993 by Franco Cassina, owner of Cassina s.p.a. and by Carlo Forcolini, that felt the need of a project based on innovation, rooting in the tradition that inspired the Italian design. Thanks to various products that became icons of the Italian design, Nemo has gained a leading position in the lighting design world. In 2006, Nemo is acquired by the Poltrona Frau Group and continues its International development, towards investments in innovation and experimentation of new materials and technology. In December 2012, Omikron Design s.r.l., a Milanese company of architectural lighting, managed by Federico Palazzari, acquires the majority of Nemo. The Poltrona Frau Group remains an important and key partner. The Nemo collection includes projects of Foster+Partners, Javier Mariscal, Carlo Forcolini, Jehs+Laub, Karim Rashid, Ilaria Marelli, Roberto Paoli and Arihiro Miyake.
In constant research of incomparable projects, Nemo created a unique selection in the lighting world, the Masters collection, Masterpiece of the most important exponents of the contemporary design: Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Vico Magistretti, Franco Albini and Kazuhide Takahama. Last year, Nemo received a number of important awards. The TRU lamp of Roberto Paoli and the Giò lamp of Angeletti Ruzza Design are selected for the ADI Design Index, Compasso d’Oro. The "Wallpaper Design Awards 2013 – Best reissue" was awarded to Nemo for the Projecteur 365 of Le Corbusier. Nemo is actually distributed in more than 40 countries. Headquarter in Milan, with commercial offices in Paris and New York.
