Lampe Cabanon

Lampe Cabanon by Nemo Lighting is an iconic table lamp designed by Le Corbusier and inspired by his famous 1952 Cabanon on the French Riviera. The Cabanon is a spartan refuge overlooking the sea: a concrete manifesto of a life reduced to the essential, designed according to the principles of the Modulor.

The lampshade, made of tracing paper – the same material the architect used for his sketches – is supported by a metal structure derived from a mortar shell casing, a war relic found on French beaches. Every detail of the lamp tells a story of an era, a thought, a design gesture. The numerous preparatory drawings attest to a desire for poetic functionality, in a Europe seeking new light after the war.
